The Kodesz Institute’s special call for proposals for reducing deaths among injured soldiers

THE ELA KODESZ Institute for Technologies in Healthcare

26 May 2025

The current situation in Israel, with the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip and other front lines, has dramatically increased the number of fatal injuries among soldiers. There is an urgent need to develop methods, systems, and devices focused on reducing deaths among injured soldiers. The goal is to support the injured as close to the battlefield as possible, following The Golden Hour and the Platinum 10 Minutes concepts. These key concepts in emergency and trauma medicine emphasize the importance of speed and efficiency in providing medical care to patients, guiding first responders and emergency teams in prioritizing rapid assessment, treatment, and transport.
The Tel Aviv University Kodesz Institute is seeking high-risk, high-reward proposals in the above described field. It encourages questions that will create a paradigm shift, push the boundaries of the field, and be unconventional and potentially transformative.

Proposals should be co-authored by at least two principal investigators (PIs): one from the Gray Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences and one from the Faculty of Engineering. One proposal will be funded with an amount of up to 100,000 NIS. A general budget is required, with expenditures subject to approval by the TAU Research Authority. The grant does not cover salaries or international travel for the PIs and is not available to Emeriti.

The proposal length should be up to 3 pages, with the following formatting: page size A4, margins 2.5 cm on each side, font type Times New Roman/Arial, font size 11-12, single-line spacing. No  specific proposal structure is required. Submission deadline: July 1, 2025.
The proposals should be submitted to: gannoti@tauex.tau.ac.il

This call is made possible through a generous donation of Dr. Giora Yaron.
